How does change happen? Why is it so difficult?
I’ve observed in myself & others that it is so often either Blistering Love or Savage Suffering, that seem to be the essential catalysts for creating good change in any of our lives. I have spent much of my life wrestling with how change happens, through developing leaders from the wealthier to the poorest, in Europe, Africa & India.
In 2006 I founded the international NGO Emerging Leaders. I was devastated seeing the impact of HIV AIDS and extreme poverty that was crushing human potential. As I stood in the slums of Lusaka, Zambia, I heard myself say, “This is not ok!” I wanted to know how things could ever change. I wanted to try and work out how to help youth to change their own lives and realise their potential, as social and business entrepreneurs.
I felt strongly that where you are born in the world should not determine your access to the best development opportunities. This conviction drove me to create a programme that brings effective leadership development into the worlds most vulnerable communities, so that people can learn to lead themselves out of poverty.
As an Executive Coach working internationally, at senior levels of organisations in all sectors, people spoke of my ability to combine leadership thinking with identifying the personal and group blockages to change. I bring with me a background in leadership, spirituality, education and psychology.
